Course Overview
Student Indemnity Form for the Laser Welding Course
–
The Student Indemnity Form is a legally binding agreement that outlines the inherent risks of handheld fiber laser operations and confirms your voluntary assumption of those risks before entering the workshop. Submitting a signed copy is a mandatory prerequisite prior to participating in any hands-on practical training.
–
Why the Form is Required
–
- Class 4 Laser Hazards: Handheld fiber lasers produce high-energy invisible radiation, extreme heat, toxic metal fumes, and high electrical voltage. The form ensures you explicitly recognize these high-risk operational conditions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Satisfies mandatory Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations and SANS 60825-1 safety standards by verifying that every student has been formally briefed on equipment hazards before handling tools.
- Legal Protection: Establishes clear legal boundaries and risk allocation between the student and the training facility before practical exercises begin.
