Course Overview
Large Format Print Course

–
This comprehensive training course is designed to transform newcomers into proficient Large Format Printing (LFP) Operators and Pre-Press Technicians. LFP is the specialized process behind vehicle wraps, billboards, banners, and retail signage. You will gain a deep, machine-agnostic understanding of the entire digital print production workflow, from file optimization and RIP software setup to machine maintenance, advanced color management, and application techniques. Upon completion, you will possess the industry-level skills required to manage a production machine and maximize profitability while maintaining quality.

What You’ll Learn
–
The curriculum is structured into seven key modules, covering both theory and hands-on practice:
- Industry & Safety: The scope of the LFP industry, business models, and critical workplace safety protocols (VOCs, heavy media handling).
- Machine Anatomy & Maintenance: Detailed knowledge of core LFP hardware components (printheads, platen, encoder strips) and critical daily and weekly maintenance routines to ensure machine longevity and print quality.
- Software Mastery (RIP & Control): Hands-on simulation using RIP software (InkRIP) for nesting, tiling, and color management, and the use of control software (PrintEXP) for crucial machine calibrations.
- Workflow & Pre-Press: Mastering the complete digital production pipeline, from file check (CMYK, DPI, Bleed) to the final execution command, ensuring minimal material waste.
- Advanced Applications: Practical knowledge of post-press finishing (trimming, grommeting), mounting, and large-scale vinyl installation techniques (Wet vs. Dry methods).
- Specialty Topics: Introduction to advanced color management (ICC Profiling), specialty inks and more.
- Certification Preparation: Targeted quizzes and a full-length simulated practical assessment to prepare you for the official certification exam.
